Announcement
Oct. 17th, 2011 06:46 pmGood evening, students. I do hope you have all enjoyed the beginning of this new term, and that you have all been keeping yourselves busy with homework without forgetting to have a bit of fun.
As the weather turns crisp and the trees put out their loveliest of foliage, I am delighted to announce that Hogwarts will soon be celebrating the season in style. I have arranged for a masquerade ball to take place at the end of the month, just before Halloween. I hope that you will all dress up in your most exciting of costumes and join your fellow students on the dance floor.
I also have another announcement that may be of further interest to some of you; the ball will be funded in part by you students. But don't fret: you will certainly be getting something in turn. Those students who choose to sign up will be auctioned to the highest bidder, who will become their escort on the night of the dance. Although I hope I do not have to remind you to treat them well and remain within the bounds of propriety. The auction will be held this Friday, prior to our first quidditch match of the season.
I do hope you will all enjoy it.
((A mod post with details about and sign-ups for the auction will go up soon, so be on the lookout!))

Written Memo
Mar. 4th, 2011 09:57 am[All teachers will receive a note on their desks, written in Dumbledore's distinctive hand.]
I'd like to see all the staff in the staffroom, if you please. We have a serious matter to discuss.
[Yukimi's note also reads:]
And I'd like to speak with you privately, Kazuhiko. In my office after the meeting, please.
((ooc: Please respond in person in the comments to this post. THREADHOPPING IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED. Don't just post your character's inner monologue: mingle.))

Feb. 21st, 2011 04:24 pmOh my. Now this is a predicament I never expected. It seems that we have quite run out of rubies for the hourglass in the entrance hall.
But never fret, Gryffindor; I am quite sure that the situation will be remedied in due time. In the meanwhile, I imagine your teachers shall have to come up with creative ways to reward your accomplishments.
((ooc: Because Gryffindor's lead at the moment is absolutely r i d o n k u l o u s, we are freezing points for Gryffindor for one month, or until the other houses have gained a significant amount of points, whichever comes first. Teachers, use this to your advantage and assign homeworks! And students, make sure you actually do them! Especially you, Ravenclaw, I see you there.
Gryffindor can still lose points during this month, of course, just can't gain any. Also please keep in mind, your characters do not know when this will end. Please react accordingly.))

Feb. 2nd, 2011 01:19 pmI'm sure you've all heard more than you care to hear about love potions being strictly forbidden, but as I am quite sure some of you are planning romantic interludes nonetheless, I do have a bit of good news.
Each of your prefects have been provided with a supply of contraceptives, so that students who are too shy to approach Madam Pomfrey will not have to go without. Please, as always, stay safe, and do try not to get caught.

Jan. 25th, 2011 10:20 amAh. The incident involving Miss Calogera was meant to proceed as quietly as possible, so naturally, the whole school knows.
Before the rumour mill begins milling, I think you students are owed an explanation, Miss Calogera's friends in particular. I am quite sure the news will reach the Prophet soon enough, so I don't believe I am out of line in informing you.
Miss Calogera has been taken into custody over a matter of Italian politics. Unfortunately, she has been implicated in a very serious matter, the full details of which I am not at liberty to divulge. I will, however, say that Miss Calogera has my unwavering support, and I shall not hesitate to come to her defence in court. So worry not, students: I am quite sure she will be back within our halls in little time.
It has also come to my attention that there has been a bit of commotion between our prefects recently, and I believe this as good a time as any to call a meeting. Could the prefects and Heads of each House report to me, please?
((Anyone is free to comment, but just so things don't get too confusing: if you're a prefect or HoH, (and not commenting on Juliet's situation) please put "Meeting" in your subject line.))

Announcement at breakfast
Jan. 5th, 2011 07:13 pmWelcome, students. I hope you've all had a truly marvellous holiday and have returned to me bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to resume your studies in the new year.
But it occurs to me that some of you may, perhaps, feel as though you would have liked to have more time to spend at home with your families; a grave injustice that I have the utmost sympathy for.
That is why I've taken the liberty of sending invitations to all your families and guardians and invite them to visit Hogwarts for the weekend. I'm sure they will all be quite excited to have the chance to observe what you students do every day in their absence. I must ask you that, as they have no doubt been gracious hosts to you for the past two weeks of holiday, that you return the favour when they visit. I have complete confidence in you.

Nov. 4th, 2010 09:42 amWell. What an interesting adventure that must have been for all of us. I must admit the fault lies partially with me, although for the confidentiality of my guest, I'm afraid I cannot divulge any more than that. Rest assured, however, you were all perfectly safe, and so you shall always be, as long as I am at Hogwarts.
Furthermore, I feel that at this time I must stress-- and in fact I believe I cannot overstate the importance of my statement to follow-- the future is not etched in stone. It is a mutable, ever-changing thing, that may be altered from one moment to the next. I myself have already taken stock of several things I plan to do differently, if in fact I am again presented the opportunity to do them at all.
With all that being said, I do hope the bonfire tomorrow night shall raise all your spirits. I know of few things a roasted marshmallow or two cannot resolve.

Oct. 31st, 2010 05:22 pmWell, it seems that Halloween is finally upon us once again. It has always been one of my favourite holidays. I do hope you are all saving your appetites for tonight's feast. The house elves have really gone all-out. It is also my understanding that a few of our professors have decided to hand out candy to those who would like to dress up. I must say I am quite looking forward to seeing what you students have come up with for costumes. Of course, it goes without saying that I expect you all to conduct yourselves responsibly and respectfully tonight, as any other night.
Now, tuck in.

Sep. 26th, 2010 09:21 pmThe first month of the school year is coming to and end it has been very productive. We've already had our first staff meeting and our Head of House and Prefects meeting; all of which are mandatory, unless you are in the hospital wing. I know that students normally visit the village on the first weekend of the month, however, due to the situation in out world, we will be lessening the trips. The first one will be the weekend of the 16th, in October, due to the fact that this coming weekend, there will be a workshop for all to attend. It seems that there has been a mutual respect problem and I feel that everyone, students, staff and myself, will benefit from going through the program. This is also mandatory attendance, and if you are in the Hospital Wing next weekend, we shall take the workshop to you.
It has also come to my attention, from the paintings and the mermaid, that students are having relations in the Prefects baths. I must remind students that the baths are for scrubbing away the daily dust you acquire and not for other things. For the month of October, the Prefects and Captains will be using the regular baths since they have lost their privileges.

[A private note, passed to Mr. Shin Sawada by a house elf during dinner]
Mr. Sawada, it has come to my attention that you have, perhaps, underestimated the amount of responsibility that comes with the badge that you wear as Head Boy. I understand that House Gryffindor has already lost points because of your actions.
Of course, it is to be expected that you have absorbed the material of your classes; I recall as a boy taking a quick doze beneath my hat from time to time. But we can't all be geniuses, Mr. Sawada, and it is your duty as Head Boy to set a positive example for the other students that inhabit these halls. If it is acceptable for the Head Boy to nod off, then, what hope does that leave that the rest shall be attentive?
In conclusion, I do believe that I made the right decision in conferring you that badge of honor, and I would be quite disappointed in myself to find that my decisions are less sound than they once were.
Sincerely,
Albus Dumbledore

Aug. 3rd, 2010 08:02 pmProfessor {your name here}, This letter is in regards to the upcoming teaching seminar. This year the Ministry has given the school a tad bit more money to fund the trip, and it will now be in Monaco and at the Hotel de Paris.
The seminars will be the same as last year, learning effective way to teach, dealing with problems students create, What is and isn't inappropriate conduct with a minor, and my personal favorite, lemon drops and how they help you teach.
The dates for the trip are August 23rd to the 27th, right before classes start so everything will be fresh in your mind. Also, since we will be in a Muggle hotel, all staff will be required to wear muggle clothes.
Sincerely, Albus Dumbledore.

May. 28th, 2010 12:29 pmGreetings to my students and staff. I hope you are quite well. I myself have been enjoying an exquisite confection left in my mailbox by a student.
But onto business. I know you students have been diligently revising for your end of term examinations, but one mustn't get too wrapped up in revisions, or one is liable to forget all that one has learned when the important time comes. With that in mind, I have sent invitations around the wizarding community and arranged an open house for this weekend. In these troubling times, I believe that we must develop closer ties with all of our allies, for as a great wizard once said, "If we do not hang together, we shall surely hang separately."
The guests will be arriving tomorrow morning. I expect you will treat them all with kindness and respect.

My dear students,
It is with a heavy heart that I address you today. No one was more appalled and saddened than I at the events that transpired yesterday. To the professors who accompanied us: you all showed remarkable level-headedness in the face of catastrophe, and I cannot thank you for what you did. To our students: I am always astounded by the bravery and resilience of young children. Unfortunately, as most of you know, some of our number are no longer with us. I would like to take a moment now to remember our fallen comrades. Professor Zechs Marquise, Arithmancy professor; Mister Asuka Masamune, sixth-year Hufflepuff and quiddich chaser; Miss Anya Alstreim, fourth-year Ravenclaw and fellow chaser; and Miss Anise Tatlin, fourth-year Slytherin. Their loss will not be soon forgotten, nor will it be in vain.
For as long as I am Headmaster of this school, I vow that Hogwarts will be a safe place. Letters have been sent to all of your parents regarding the recent news; I have left with them the decision to bring you home or to let you remain here. Classes are to be cancelled until after the Easter holiday, but if any student, at any time, should feel the need to stay at Hogwarts, these doors will be open to them. The Death Eaters would like us to cower, to show fear and weakness. Then, they will have won. We must not let them win. Be strong in the face of adversity, and united in the face of those who would wish to divide us. Only then will the forces of darkness be defeated.

Mar. 2nd, 2010 11:34 amNow that the Slytherin and Hufflepuff areas are back to normal and the students are settled in, we can take care of any damaged goods. All items should be left in the middle of their dorms so that the House Elves can take them for repairs and cleaning.
And it looks like the culprit has been found in the issue about improper items in the Slytherin boys dorms. They will be cleaning all of the rooms for Defence Against the Dark Arts, as well as the Trophy room; without magic, of course.
Students are reminded to give the staff much more respect than prior, as it should not be assumed that actions like this would go unnoticed. Teachers do pay attention to the actions of students at all times. And in Hogwarts, it is more than just the teachers watching you.

Attention students
Feb. 21st, 2010 06:05 pmIt has unfortunately come to my attention of late that certain among you have been partaking in... shall we say, extracurricular activities. I must take this moment to remind you all that underage witches and wizards are not to consume alcohol, and that possession of such on school grounds-- even if one is of age-- will not be permitted.
The house elves have reported finding empty wine bottles in the Slytherin dorms during their nightly cleaning. I must say it saddens me that this action must be taken, but for the moment I am assigning all Slytherin boys to serve detention with Mr. Filch until the responsible party comes forward. In addition, the Slytherin dorms will be routinely checked for illicit substances, until such time as I can feel confident that there will be no further infractions.
As to the other houses, I do hope you will also behave in a manner befitting young students. I shall not like having to take such measures again.

Feb. 20th, 2010 03:21 pmConsidering the heavy rain, Quidditch players should be cautious in their practising. Nogtail flu is a high price to pay for victory, even in such a prestigious arena as quidditch. The Hospital Wing is open to any who feel under the weather and all students should stay warm and remember their scarves and earmuffs.

Feb. 11th, 2010 08:46 pmDear students and staff, at the astute suggestion of Professor Bainbridge, Hogwarts will be holding memorial service for those killed or otherwise harmed in the unfortunate attacks in Kent. It will be held in the courtyard tomorrow morning, before classes and after your breakfasts. The respectful presence of the entire student body is requested.
It would do well for each of you to participate in these moments of peace, as the dark days ahead will offer very little opportunity for them.
