I'm afraid there is, at the moment, a very nasty rumour circling regarding an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student. That is what I've called you all here to discuss.

You say it's a rumor... Does that mean the student hasn't stepped forward?

No student has stepped forward at this time, no, though there could be many reasons for that.

I would like very much if this whole business were nothing but a rumour.

Is the presumed student of age, at least? [ That would be a serious problem if they weren't. ]
